1 The Consequences System
October 2018

2 At De Warenne Academy… We want to give time and attention to students displaying positive behaviour We do this with effort points, Above & Beyond stickers, positive phone calls home, postcards home, reward trips and events, Twitter, and in conversations every day The Consequences system deals with negative behaviour without wasting time on it

3 It’s simple really Wear your uniform correctly
Be where you are supposed to be when you are supposed to be there Do not disrupt learning Make progress (do your class and homework) Treat everyone with respect

4 Uniform Tie must be worn
A watch may be worn – no other jewellery AT ALL No hair bobbles on wrists – in pocket Mobile phones – switched off NOT silent and NOT seen – confiscation if seen – only collected by an adult Make-up – NONE except discreet foundation or concealer for skin conditions (no lashes, no brows)

5 Everyone treated with respect
Follow a reasonable request – no arguments, no negotiation Fire alarm, knife, serious assault, assaulting a member of staff, a one-off serious offence threatening health and safety will all lead to permanent exclusion

6 C4 Other – anti-social behaviour
Chewing (gum, plastic, anything) Poor corridor behaviour Incorrect uniform Litter / dining room mess No equipment – planner, knowledge organiser, pen, PE kit Foul language Truancy / Out of bounds

7 The Consequences System
Students are told the ‘rule and consequence reminder’ before being issued with their first consequence. First misbehaviour – verbal warning - C1 Second misbehaviour – verbal warning – C2 Third misbehaviour – Final warning – C3 If you repeatedly get to C3 you will only get E1 for effort on your half termly report and your teacher will ring home

8 C4 – Disruption to Learning
Student is sent to another lesson – this is not open to discussion Sit in the lesson and reflect on what went wrong Do not disrupt the lesson Return to your lesson at the end to collect a detention sticker Serve an after school detention

9 If you think a mistake was made…
Follow the system through to collecting your sticker Speak to your Learning Manager at break, lunch or after school who will investigate DO NOT roam the academy looking for your LM – this is “out of bounds”

10 The Consequences System
Fourth misbehaviour - Student will be sent to another class called “Matrix” - C4 - results in a 1hr detention. Fifth misbehaviour –will result in isolation C5 in the “Consequence Room” for the remainder of that lesson plus extra on the following day plus a detention after school.

13 Failed C5 Internal exclusion at a different academy
Student leaves DWA at 8:30 and returns to DWA by 15:30 If student fails in CR on two concurrent FULL C5s, they will complete any outstanding C5s at an alternative academy If student gets 3 separate FULL C5s per ½ term

14 C5 Alternative Academy Swearing at a member of staff
