3
Density Density- Compactness; how closely set particles are; a measure of mass per volume Density = Mass/Volume (broken heart)
4
Units Mass- grams Volume- mL or cm3 Density- g/ml or g/cm3
Volume of a solid= L x W x H
5
Sink or Float?? Density of water is 1 g/ml
If density is less than 1, it will float If density is more than 1, it will sink Displacement- the amount of change in volume when object is placed in the grad. cylinder

Problems 1. What is the volume of a tank that can hold 754 Kg of methanol whose density is 0.788g/cm3? 2. CaCl2 is used as a de-icer on roads in the winter. It has a density of 2.50 g/cm3. What is the mass of 15.0 L this substance? 3. A 147 g piece of metal has a density of 7.0 g/ml. A 50 ml graduated cylinder contains 20 ml of water. What is the final volume after the metal is added to the graduated cylinder?
