2 Possessive Apostrophes
Use an apostrophe + S (‘s) to show that one person/thing owns or is a member of something.  The dog’s bowl is empty. Use an apostrophe after the “s” at the end of a plural noun to show possession. The dogs’ bowls are empty.

3 Apostrophes in Contractions
When you combine two words to make a contraction, you will always take out some letters. In their place, use an apostrophe.         they + have = they’ve are + not = aren’t they + will = they’ll Exception: will + not= won’t

4 Your vs. You’re Your shows belonging (possessive)
You’re is a contraction for you are

5 It’s and Its It’s is a contraction for it is or it has
It’s cold outside. It’s been a great year so far! Its is a possessive pronoun Its modifies a noun and is used to show ownership The cat carried its kitten in its mouth.
