History-the study of past events so we can predict the future History- a written record of our past Students will define history* and complete the introduction to history section on their guided notes

What are some ways you think we research history? How have you researched history in the past? What have you used? What should we do with the information we get from researching history? Let me tell you how we are going to research history this year. Understand how social scientist research history- answer the historical research and tools section of your guided notes

5 Primary Vs Secondary Sources
Primary Sources A primary source provides direct or firsthand evidence about an event, object, person, or work of art Secondary Sources Secondary sources describe, discuss, interpret, comment upon, analyze, evaluate, summarize, and process primary sources.

6 Examples of Sources Secondary Sources
Primary Sources Primary sources include historical and legal documents, eyewitness accounts, results of experiments, statistical data, pieces of creative writing, audio and video recordings, speeches, and art objects. Interviews, surveys, fieldwork, and Internet communications via , blogs, and newsgroups are also primary sources. Secondary Sources Secondary source materials can be articles in newspapers or popular magazines, book or movie reviews, or articles found in scholarly journals that discuss or evaluate someone else's original research.
