2
Specialization and interactions within cells and organisms
Choose a specialized cell on the human body (skin, liver, etc) Explain how specific organelles contribute to the function of that cell Choose one of following processes: Exchange of gases; Circulation of fluids; Digestion of food; Excretion of waste Choose an organ that participates in the process you chose, and explain how its structure contributes to its function Explain how the process you chose contributes to the overall functioning of the organism
3
Cooperative interactions are more efficient
Cells plasma membrane, cytoplasm (organelles in eukaryotes) contribute to the overall specialization and functioning of the cell Multicellular organisms specialization of organs contributes to the overall functioning of the organism. Example: Exchange of gases, circulation of fluids Holtzclaw: 43, 223, (225 example, don’t need details),
4
Unicellular populations
population of unicellular organisms can be similar to those of multicellular organisms These interactions also lead to increased efficiancy
