“the ability to access, analyze, evaluate and produce communication in a variety of forms” Reading and writing, speaking and listening, critical viewing, and the ability to make your own messages using a wide range of technologies are critical aspects of media literacy. You need to be able to identify manipulation and propaganda in the media.

These tips were for parents; however, we can reword them to help YOU know how to safely navigate the world of social networking: Use technology in an area that can be monitored by a parent/guardian. Connect with family members who will help you when you go astray. Know the risks of social networking. Keep your information private! Use common sense and caution online. Don’t lose touch with friends in real life!
