WHO? Canadair Ltd. was a civil and military aircraft manufacturer in Canada. It was a subsidiary of other aircraft manufacturers, then a nationalized corporation until privatized in 1986, and became the core of Bombardier Aerospace.

Why? Arising from an earlier 1960s research study at the company, the original concept was for a twin-engined floatplane transport, that was altered into a "firefighter" as a result of a request by forestry officials in the Quebec Service Aérien (Quebec Government Air Service) for a more effective way of delivering water to forest fires.

How? cl Max cruising speed of 290 km / h (157 kt). The initial rate of climb 1000 ft / min. Range of 1715 km at a maximum cruising speed (925 sea miles), the cruising speed of 2095 km distance (1,130 sea miles). It can also be used for forest fire fighting.
