By this time in 1944, the Allies were forcing Hitler to retreat - France and Germany America was taking control of Italy Soviet Union was occupying Northern Europe

3 Fake News The Allies sent out fake telegraphs to their “troops” in Northern Europe Orders were intercepted by the Germans Hitler moved all of his defenses to the north The real attack was on the beaches of Normandy, France The attack was to take place on June 5th, 1944 but due to bad weather was pushed back to June 6th, 1944

4 Logistics 15,000-20,000 infantry Airborne divisions half that size
Less than 10,000 German divisions July 2- 1 million troops in Normandy Supported by -566,648 tons of supplies, 171,532 vehicles, and 11,590 aircraft

5 timeline 0000- Paratroopers land behind enemy lines
0100- Landing craft lowered into water, paratroopers take out railways and telephone lines 0200- Bombers take off 0309- German radar picks up Allied forces, Adm. Krancke tells troops to prepare for invasion 0520- Sunrise, Bombers drop bombs on targets (railways, bridges, etc.) 0535- German open fires on Allies, Allies return fire German E-boats (small ships) fire torpedoes at Allied destroyers 0620- Allied boats approach beach 0630- H-Hour for Omaha and Utah beach, 116th and 16th infantry on Omaha/8th infantry on Utah (All-American attack) 0725- H-Hour for Sword beach (British troops) 0800- Canadian forces land on Juno Beach 1300- Troops secure Omaha Beach
