Then: what was the resolution of the story?
Answer the questions, put them together, and you’ve got a simple summary!

Maria looked in all the usual places for the basement key. She needed to leave for school, and her schoolbag was locked in the basement. Having no choice, she climbed all the way up to the attic where her mother was looking through some old files. “Mom,” Maria asked, “can I please borrow the basement spare key?”
GL - Maria wanted to leave for school, but her schoolbag was locked in the basement, so she climbed up to the attic, then she asked for the spare key.

Waldo McWillerbee’s mother had an antique vase with tiny blue and gold flowers painted on it. He covered it with a handkerchief.
Waldo McWillerbee tried to use magic to make his mother’s vase float in the air. However, the vase shattered to the floor and Waldo ran and hid under the bed.
Have students the summary statement they wrote & choose the answer that best summarizes like they did.
