Correlation between population gastric cancer incidence and the CPI. The CPI is defined as the product of the H pylori prevalence and the IL-1β-511T+ prevalence, expressed as a percentage, in the population of interest. A significant association is noted between the country-specific CPI and gastric cancer incidence for 16 populations (P = .0057). Gastric cancer incidence, combined for males and females, is obtained from the International Agency for Research on Cancer.
