Graphing Radicals Honors Algebra II with Trigonometry Ms. Lee
2
Essential Stuff Essential Question Essential Vocabulary
How do you graph radical functions? Essential Vocabulary Radical Function Perfect Square/Cube Domain Range
3
Square Root Function The square root is the inverse to the Quadratic function The parent function is y= 𝒙
4
Domain & Square Roots We cannot take an even root of a negative number and get a real answer. So, to find domain, we must set the radicand ≥𝟎. For example, if 𝒇 𝒙 = 𝒙+𝟒 , to find the domain we would say 𝑥+4≥0 or 𝑥≥−4. The domain is 𝐷:𝑥≥−4
5
Cube Root Function The cube root is the inverse to the Cubic function
The parent function is y= 𝟑 𝒙
6
Domain & Cube Roots We can take an odd root of any number, positive or negative. So the domain is always All Real Numbers
