2 Classroom Rules Be RESPECTFUL of everyone. Let BAD attitudes outside.
Come PREPARED for class. Turn in assignments ON TIME.

3 What students need to be prepared.
Notebook for Notes and Classwork Students may use a multi-subject notebook or a binder with paper, as long as there is one section dedicated specifically to ELA. Two Pocket Folder Students may use multi-subject notebook or binder with built in pockets, as long as there is one pocket dedicated to ELA. Working Pencil Pen (Any Color)

4 NOVELS Everyone: The Outsiders by: S.E. Hinton Standard: The Giver by: Lois Lowry Honors: Fahrenheit 451 by: Ray Bradbury

5 Grading 90 – 100 = A 80 – 89 = B 70 – 79 = C 60 – 69 = D 59 and below = F *This scale will be used for all assignments. *Quarterly grades are comprised of both formal and informal assignments. The breakdown is as follows: 35% Informal Assignments : Classwork, homework, and quizzes. 65% Formal Assignments : Formal tests and projects.

6 Retest (For scores below 80 on a test)
99 – 100 = – 98 = – 96 = – 94 = – 92 = – 90 = – 88 = – 86 = – 84 = – 82 = – 80 = – 78 = – 76 = – 74 = – 72 = – 70 = – 68 = – 66 = – 64 = – 62 = 61 *Students have up to two weeks to take their retests. *Students must attend working lunch and have a parent sign the original test prior to retaking the test.

7 Late Work Students will receive up to an 80% for any assignment that is late. Late assignments turned in after two weeks will result in a zero.
