4. “Sanctify Christ As Lord In Your Heart” Notice the direction
Not that God sanctifies your heart
We are to sanctify Christ in our heart
Sanctify Him as Lord (Lk. 6:46)
“The life that I now live” (Gal. 2:20)
“Every thought” (2 Cor. 10:5)
“Let this mind be in you (Phil. 2:5-11)

5. “Reason (Account) For The Hope That Is In You”
Much religion today denies reason or an intellectual basis for Christianity
Heavy emphasis on emotion
Christianity is a religion of truth (1 Peter 1:22-23)
“Make a defense” (give an account) is a term describing a lawyer defending his client
Reason for hope is faith (Heb. 11:1)
Not a subjective or emotional response
There is a revealed faith (Jude 3)

6. Capability Be ready (1 Peter 1:13; 2 Tim. 2:15) A defense:
Is baptism immersion in water?
Is baptism part of salvation?
Why the Lord’s Supper every Sunday?
Is instrumental music authorized by God?
Hope is within us (1 Peter 1:3)
To everyone who asks (1 Cor. 6:9; Matt. 10:16)
With gentleness and reverence (Eph. 4:15)
