Tiananmen Square was built in 1417 in the center of Beijing City.
Tiananmen Square is the largest city square in the world. The north-south length is 880m and the east-west width is 500m. The total area is 440,000 square meters.
Tiananmen, “Sky Peace Gate” is the entrance of the Forbidden City.
Numerous important events in China’s history happened here, including Mao Zedong’s announcement proclaiming the birth of the the People’s Republic of China.
