Follow ALL these steps to show three cell exchange processes on the section of cell membrane
OSMOSIS: use the central part of the cell membrane
LABEL an example of a PHOSPHOLIPID, and LABEL the H2O, C6H12O6, AMINO ACIDS, and ATP molecules in the key
LABEL the inside (below membrane): CYTOPLASM
LABEL the OUTSIDE (above membrane)
DRAW a large number (~10) of water molecules (H2O, mickey mouses) outside the cell and LABEL this HIGH CONCENTRATION of H2O
DRAW a small number (~2-3) of water molecules inside the cell and LABEL this LOW CONCENTRATION of H2O
DRAW two or more H2O molecules diffusing between the phospholipids from the outside to the inside, using arrows to show direction, and LABEL this OSMOSIS
PASSIVE TRANSPORT: use the protein “doorway” from fig.4, p. 86 on the left end of the membrane
DRAW a large number of sugar particles (~10) inside the cell and LABEL this HIGH CONCENTRATION of C6H12O6
DRAW a small number (~2-3) outside the cell and LABEL this LOW CONCENTRATION of C6H12O6
DRAW C6H12O6 particles diffusing though the protein, using arrows to show direction
ACTIVE TRANSPORT: use the protein from fig. 5, p. 86 on the right end of the membrane
DRAW a large number of AMINO ACID particles (~10) inside the cell and LABEL this HIGH CONCENTRATION of AMINO ACIDS
DRAW a small number (~2-3) outside the cell and LABEL this LOW CONCENTRATION of AMINO ACIDS
DRAW particles moving though the protein, using arrows to show direction
ADD a molecule of ATP on the inside of protein to show energy used and LABEL ATP USED
