3
Background I chose this topic because I wanted to do something with food. I have always wondered what is the difference between baking powder and baking soda. I thought this was a really good idea and I wanted to see what would happen if I used baking soda instead of baking powder.
4
Hypothesis If I use baking soda for muffins then they will taste not as good as the muffins with baking powder.
5
Variables independent- baking powder and baking soda
dependent- the texture and the taste constants- ingredients, the pan and the temperature

Procedure 1- pick your favorite muffin recipe
2- put the pan of muffins in the oven 3- cool the muffins 5- use the same recipe but add baking powder instead of baking soda 6- compare the texture, the taste and the height by having my family taste them

conclusion Can baking soda replace baking powder in a muffin recipe?
I am testing if baking soda can be used to make muffins. One person liked the muffin with baking soda and 3 people liked the muffin with baking powder. My data does support my hypothesis because the baking powder was tested better than the baking soda. I learned that baking soda can be used but the muffins wouldn't taste as good. I would make more muffins instead of just 6 muffins for both.
