SAC Directions, Part 1 1. You are sitting in a group of 4 or 5. If you are the 5th person in the group (your name is on a blue sticker), you need to pick one of the pairs at your table to work with during the SAC. 2. Take out your two sheets you picked up at the front of the room. We will use the one that says “Defending a Side” at the top first. 3. Read the question at the top of this sheet. 4. If your Post-It is yellow, you will be arguing “YES” for Round 1. If your Post-It is pink, you are arguing “NO” for Round 1. 5. With your partner, review the evidence sheet for your side (YES = IN FAVOR, NO = AGAINST). Fill in the chart on your worksheet (at least 3 of the lines), 6. When you are told, you and your partner will argue your side to the other pair at your table.

SAC Directions, Part 2 1. You will get 2 minutes to debate your position to the other pair at your table. We will start with the YES group presenting their argument first, then the NO. 2. While the other pair is presenting their argument, you will record any important points you think they make at the bottom of your worksheet where it says “counter-argument”. 3. Once both sides have presented an argument, you will get a 2 minute period to address each other in a counter- argument.
5
SAC Directions, Part 3 1. Now that you have researched and debated one side, you must switch and research the other. 2. Swap evidence papers with the other pair at your table. 3. You will get 5 minutes to choose the 2-3 strongest pieces of evidence for your new, Round 2 side “YES” or “NO”. 4. We will then do another round of debates.
