Before class - post a few pictures of M.C. Escher - around the room. Also change something prominent in the set up of the room from the usual set up. Ask them if they noticed - anything unusual today - or what caught their attention. Why do unusual things catch our attention? How do we respond to the unusual? Some feel threatened & want to destroy it - or run away from it

John 2 & 3 The First Passover of His Ministry
Jesus found himself in a similar situation in John 2 & 3 It’s Passover time - He goes to Jerusalem & He sees some “unusual” things & some others find Him “unusual”. Jesus uses the “unusual” to teach some lessons.

A “ruler of the Jews,” member of the Sanhedrin Some points to bring up: Who is Nicodemus? Why is he there? Why is he there at that hour? And why has he come to see Jesus? Interested in the gospel - but little afraid to be “unusual” Christ was the perfect teacher, the perfect missionary. By studying John 3 we can learn how to teach the gospel better.
