Math Problem 1 This summer was very exciting and busy! In the first half of summer, I went to Kerala in south India. It is also called “Gods own country” due to its natural beauty. It is a tropical paradise! We went to a popular ice cream shop which had 50 flavors. We went there 6 times and each time I only had chocolate ice cream. My dad tried 3 different flavored scoops each time and my mom tried 2 different flavors each time. How many flavors did we NOT try?

Math Problem 2 I love dancing! My dance form is called Bharatnatyam, which is over 2000 years old. I need lots of jewelry for the dance. My mom bought me beautiful golden bangles from India. The cost of 2 bangles was Rs. 200 (Rs. = Rupees, the Indian currency). My mom bought 12 bangles for each hand. How much money did we spend on the bangles? How much is it in US dollars? (Hint: $1=Rs.64)

Math Problem 3 In the second half of summer, I had 3 dance performances. My friends were also performing. My dad drove me to all of them. We spend 6 hours at each performance. My dad drove 2 hours the first time, 3 hours the second time and 4 hours the third time. How much time did we spend for the performances and driving in all? What fraction of the time did my dad spend driving?

Answer Key 1) (6x3)+(6x2) = =31 We tried 31 flavors =19 We did not try 19 flavors. 2) 12 bangles x Rs.200=Rs $1=Rs.64, ? = Rs cross-multiply 2400=? x /64 = ?reduce the fraction /8=? long division We paid $37.50 3) (6x3) = 27hours in all = 9 hours driving / = 1/3 My dad spend 1/3 rd of his time driving.
