(Opening Activity for 8/24/15 Department Chairs Meeting) If you… Graduated from high school in LAUSD. Have ever lived outside the United States. Have a favorite sports team. Have more than three siblings. [not me] Earned your credential through the District Intern Program. Can name all seven of Disney’s dwarfs—in alphabetical order. Have a family member who works in LAUSD. [not me] Teach or have taught sheltered and/or LTEL courses. Can identify the three proficiency levels in the new ELD standards. Like the Common Core State Standards. Spent time with family and/or friends this past weekend. Took a vacation (i.e., went somewhere) this summer. [Not me] Know the three criteria for language reclassification. Have kids of your own in high school. Have been at South East High School for more than five years. [Not me] Worked at more than two other schools before coming here. Speak a language other than English with reasonable fluency. Can explain the difference between integrated and designated ELD. Are excited to begin this school year. Are determined to try something new/different this year. …then you’re like me!
