Solving Word Problems with Proportions. Example 1: Jon made 34 cookies in 2 hours. How many cookies can he make in 13 hours? Put each ratio in a proportion. Make sure the measurements are in the same position in the proportion. In this proportion cookies are on top and hours are on bottom.

Example 2: Ryan can run 5 miles in 1.45 hours. How long will it take him to run 7 miles? 2.03 hours
