1 Music at Long Meadow

2 Early Years Early Learning Goals
• Begins to build a repertoire of songs and dances. • Explores the different sounds of instruments. Children have access to musical instruments and the opportunity to explore sounds in both indoor and outdoor provision. Write Dance – Children explore mark making along side music.

3 Year 1 & 2 National Curriculum KS1
Use their voices expressively and creatively by singing songs and speaking chants and rhymes Play tuned and untuned instruments musically Listen with concentration and understanding to a range of high-quality live and recorded music Experiment with, create, select and combine sounds using the inter-related dimensions of music. Year 1 & 2 Children are learning to sing and perform as a group. Children are performing using instruments and have been given the opportunity to compose their own music. Singing is used during transition times to manage behaviour as well as improve well being.

4 Year 3 & 4 National Curriculum KS2
Play and perform in solo and ensemble contexts, using their voices and playing musical instruments with increasing accuracy, fluency, control and expression Listen with attention to detail and recall sounds with increasing aural memory Year 3 & 4 Year 4 performed for the Emerald Club. Year 3&4 had the opportunity to develop rhythm and movement through Strictly Come Dancing Competition. Rhythm and Pulse developed through singing games.

5 Year 4 National Curriculum KS2
Play and perform in solo and ensemble contexts, using their voices and playing musical instruments with increasing accuracy, fluency, control and expression Use and understand staff and other musical notations Year 4 children are given the opportunity to learn keyboards and performed at the music concert. They are beginning to read and name musical notes.

6 Year 5 & 6 National Curriculum KS2
Play and perform in solo and ensemble contexts, using their voices and playing musical instruments with increasing accuracy, fluency, control and expression Use and understand staff and other musical notations

7 Music Listening Throughout the Autumn Term, all year groups took part in daily music listening National Curriculum links: Listen with concentration and understanding to a range of high-quality live and recorded music (KS1) Appreciate and understand a wide range of high-quality live and recorded music drawn from different traditions and from great composers and musicians (KS2) Develop an understanding of the history of music (KS2)

8 Extra-Curricular Peripatetic instrument teachers from Milton Keynes Music Centre offer: Flute Violin Brass Guitar Many of the children have had the opportunity to perform in the Music Concert and compete in Music Festivals. All children recorded a school CD. Every year group learnt a song and performed it. CDs could be purchased by parents. Professional brass player performed for whole school in assembly. Year 6 children attended a music workshop at Shenley Brook End in preparation for attending next year.

10 Active Music Digital Feedback
Used frequently in Year 2 and Year 4. Positive feedback from class teachers and children. Problems with login – SD and PD both tried to contact but can’t get through.
