cyberbullying This type is happening more than you know. It has to be stopped. Hurtful s/texts Online gossip Spreading hurtful pictures or videos Sexting Abusive posts Intentionally excluding someone online

Know your facts! 3.2 million students are victims per year
90% of students in 4th-8th grade say they are victims 160,000 skip school each day because of bullying

We need to step up and help.
Are we helping? 1 in 4 teachers intervene only 4% of the time. Over 67% of students say that their schools do not respond to bullying. We need to step up and help.

Its not just a joke. Victims of bullying are 2 to 9 times more likely to have suicidal thoughts Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death among young people There are 4,400 suicides per year. For every suicide, there are 100 attempts

How do we know its happening?
Signs of depression Withdrawal Change in eating/sleeping habits Loss of interest in activities Unexplainable injuries Lost or broken personal items Declining grades Self destructive behavior

What can we do to help? If someone reaches out, don’t turn away.
Keep your eyes and ears open Establish a safe environment Respond when you see it happening Have help resources in classroom Books Phone numbers Websites Names of counselors
