UW Platteville has 9 legal holidays a year. New Year’s Day (January 1) Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Third Monday of January) Memorial Day (Last Monday in May) Independence Day (July 4) Labor Day (First Monday in September) Thanksgiving (Fourth Thursday in November) Christmas Eve (December 24) Christmas Day (December 25) New Year’s Eve (December 31)

Knowing when a legal holiday is a Floating Legal Holiday
When a legal holiday falls on a Saturday, the employee is granted eight hours of floating legal holiday (prorated, if part-time). When a legal holiday falls on a Sunday, the legal holiday is observed and the UW System is closed on the Monday following the legal holiday.
