1 B22 The Rock Cycle

2 B22 Rock Cycle Background
Rock Cycle: how one type of rock can change and form into another type of rock. Granite, marble & coal are rocks that we use, identify, & value. Where did they come from? The surface of the Earth has been forming for billions of years and is still forming today. Rocks are also grouped by how they formed: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic.

3 B22 Rock Cycle: Formation
Erosion/Weathering: to wear away by the action of wind, water, or ice. Deposition: the deposit or build up of rock particles to form new rocks. Sedimentary rocks form by erosion & deposition of rocks into sediments that harden by pressure. Igneous rocks form by heated/cooled magma. Metamorphic rocks form by high heat and pressure deep inside the Earth.

4 B22 Rock Cycle Diagram You will need a sheet of paper with your Name, Hour, Date, and Title on it. You will also need a ruler to draw the Rock Cycle diagram. Afterward draw examples of each type of rock on the Rock Cycle diagram and color them in. Use examples from what you have already drawn in your lab book. Then turn it in for a grade.
