CLAIM: People who abandon their pet should be punished
Based on your three topic choices as well as the list of topics…
Choose one topic you feel passionately about that you would like to research and write an argumentative essay on.
Have a topic that is not on the list? Ask me if you can use that topic.
REMEMBER: Only ONE person can write on one topic. So if someone chooses to write about school uniforms, NO ONE ELSE CAN.
Once you have chosen your topic- decide which side of the argument you want to be on

Research FIVE facts about your topic, write it down, and list where the information came from. Use the example on this slide to guide you

On the chart paper, write your claim and reasons for your topic
THIS WILL BE YOUR THESIS STATEMENT FOR YOUR ESSAY.

7. Wednesday – Thursday Learning Commons
You will learn how to access Cobb Digital Library, Cobb Library Pass, and Office 365. You will be expected to use these research platforms to conduct research for your argumentative essay. You MUST submit your final draft electronically on Office 365. Please refer to your handouts on how to access these platforms at home.

8. Happy Friday! March 9, 2018
If you are finished with your rough draft, find a partner and begin revise/editing each other’s work. If your rough draft is NOT done, use class time to finish it. If you finish before the end of class, you may have someone revise/edit your work!
