5 Skin checks How did it go last year?
Is the process of checking wrestlers becoming engrained into the coaches- athletes-officials? Do you think this is creating a safer environment?

6 Skin checks Refer to power point for skin condition examples on cwoa.ca website

7 Skin conditions Educate the parents, wrestlers and coaches
Recognition of skin issues How to prevent them from spreading How to treat them when they occur.

8 Prevention Clean wrestling mats with solution 1:100 bleach and water or appropriate commercial cleaner (be careful on choice or product) Using mop that has been properly cleaned, (use of spray and drag swiffer type mop is very effective) Proper ventilation in the room, avoiding heat and humidity-before and after practice Clean all workout gear after each practice , including towels, clothing headgear, shoes, knee pads etc. Require each wrestler to shower using soap after each practice. 18 Recruit-train-mentor-protect-retain new officials
Critical mass of no new officials coming into all realms of officiating- nationwide Recruit-stats show that 80% of new officials were asked by another official or coach to join the ranks Train and Mentor: rules, mechanics and pair up with a veteran official Protect: Do not allow coaches and fans badger, berate etc. new officials Retain: keep them interested, challenge them when ready, build the comradery Coaches and officials are no that much different they want to help kids, they love the sport and want to give back to the sport.

19 Recruit-train-mentor-protect-retain new officials
Observations: We cannot allow new officials to continually make mistakes. If they are not corrected they will think this is the correct call. Send a veteran to all non varsity tournaments to help the young officials and correct their mistakes and protect them Build the advance tools quicker such as recognizing stalling and then call it. STALLING IS YOUR FRIEND
