Plate Boundaries Frequently one of three things occur.
Mountain ranges. Caused as rock layers are pushed together & up.

Plate Boundaries Volcanoes form when magma breaks through the earth’s crust. Once on the surface, magma is called lava.

Plate Boundaries Earthquakes- sudden, violent movements along faults.
Fault- a break in the earth’s crust.

Ring of Fire A circle of volcanoes & earthquake zones that surround the Pacific Ocean.

Hot Spots Regions within the mantle with rising plumes of magma
Produces geysers, hot springs & volcanic island chains. Example: Hawaii, Yellowstone.
