2 Frequency tables 2

3 Frequency tables Basic descriptive tool namely for nominal and ordinal data (why not for cardinal?) A lot of info in one table (see below) Basic question: How many respondents belong to individual categories (counts or frequencies) 3

4 Frequency table - example
E.G. 15 PEOPLE STRONGLY AGREE HOW MANY PEOPLE 4

5 Frequency table - example
TOTAL NR. OF RESPONDENTS 5

6 Frequency table - example
E.G. 2,3 % (15 PEOPLE) STRONGLY AGREE WHAT PROPORTION OF PEOPLE 6

7 Frequency table - example
PROPORTION WITHOUT MISSINGS 7

8 Frequency table - example
CUMULATIVE PROPORTION WITHOUT MISSINGS 8

9 Frequency table - missing
FREQUENCY AND PERCENT IS COMPUTED FROM ALL CASES INCL. MISSINGS 9

10 Median and mode in fr. tables?
Where we can find mode? Where we can find median? 10

11 Tables or charts? Alternative to freq. table: Pie chart Bar chart
examples 11

12 Custom tables Alternative to frequency table – ANALYZE-TABLES-CUSTOM TABLES Possibility to merge more tables into one (stacking) : 1. All varibles into Row 2. Choose „Rowlabels in Columns“ (Category position – right down corner) 3. Change Summary Statistics (e.g. Row % - click on Apply to selection) Important note: For Custom tables is necessary to set all measurememts scales correctly (Variable View-Measure) 12

13 Custom tables - example
