Each group needs to have poster paper and markers Today we will begin reviewing Chemistry! You are to create a table on your poster paper. It should look like this:

5 Concepts What I remember What I learned Diagrams Compare and contrast pure substances (elements and compounds) and mixtures. (Include heterogeneous and homogeneous mixtures. Movement of particles in solids, liquids, gases, and plasma states when thermal energy is added or removed. Compare and contrast chemical and physical properties of matter. Support the claim that when a change in a substance occurs, it can be classified as either chemical or physical. Analyze patterns within the periodic table that illustrate the structure, composition, and characteristics of atoms Describe conservation of matter in a chemical reaction including the resulting differences between products and reactants.

6 Instructions You are to complete the What I Remember portion first. Jot down ideas about what you remember. It can be vocabulary or anything that pops into your mind. We will take about 8 minutes for this. Next you are completing the What I learned. USE YOUR IANS!! You may use any resource you can think of to complete these ideas. Be sure you answer the portion of the standard completely. Get as much information as possible. We will take about 10 minutes for this task. Next, you are to draw a diagram to summarize. Think of anything you can to connect the standard to this diagram. We will take about 8 minutes for this. Last, as a group, you are going to come up and present your information to the rest of the class. As other groups present, add information to your sheet.

You may use materials (*hint, like your poster) to help you answer questions BUT you may NOT use your partner or table mates. After you fill it in on your paper, you will enter it into iRespond. After you enter it into iRespond, please be sure to put this review packet into your IAN on pg. 80!

14 Four Square Frayer Today’s Topic will be over Standard 2- Energy Transformations You are to split your paper into 4’s with your middle section boxing in the title: ENERGY TRANSFORMATION Draw a diagram comparing and contrasting Kinetic Energy (KE) and Potential Energy (PE) as it relates to mass. Draw a diagram of either a roller coaster or pendulum and label the KE and PE on it. Be sure to take into consideration friction. Draw a picture illustrating energy transformation in a lightbulb. Draw a picture of conduction, convection, and radiation. In each of these pictures/diagrams be sure to give a summary statement that explains your thought process.

Take 2 minutes and write down 5 things you learned today. Quietly, WITHOUT TALKING you are going to get up and visit 5 other students. Without talking you are going to write down 5 different facts OUTSIDE of your circle. We will take 3 minutes to complete this.
