2 Definition Power is the rate of doing work and the amount of energy consumed per unit time.

3 Explanation When an object increases their force and speed they are increasing their power. As an object increases the speed it decreases the amount of time.

4 Units The unit of power is the joule per second (J/s).
Most common unit used is watts.

5 Formula power=work/time power= force x velocity

7 Connections Mechanical power- combination of forces and movements
Electrical power- the rate, per unit time, at which electrical energy is transferred by an electric circuit.

8 Relations Power is related to work because power is defined as work done per unit time.

9 Examples of Power The faster the ball is pitched the more power there is. The faster the bat gets to the ball leads to more power.
