Flag Of Israel The Israeli flag was created in October 28, 1948, 5 months after the county was declared. The flag is basically a picture of a shield of David on a white background with two horizontal lines or otherwise known as the jewish prayer shawl “Talits.” The “Talits” and “Shield Of David” are colored a “night sky blue.” This flag brings hope to the people of Israel when it is needed most.

Emblem of Israel The Emblem of Israel resembles a menorah surrounded by 2 olive braches on its right and left and under the menorah is written Israel in Hebrew. The backdrop of the symbol is blue but the menorah and olive braches can be either white or golden. The state of Israel held a competition to find the most proper emblem for the state. The winners, Gabriel and Maxim Shamir’s emblem were combined with different ideas to come up with the emblem we have today. The Menorah has been a symbol for Judaism for almost 3000 years and was used in the Temple of Jerusalem. And the Olive Branch Symbolizes Peace.

Anthem of Israel The Israeli Anthem “Hatikvah” was written by Nafti Herz Imber A Galician Jew that moved to Palestine, The poem symbolizes hope. When the State of Israel was officially declared the Hatikvah was made the unofficial anthem of the state. It wasn’t until November 2004 that it was officially declared the anthem. The melody of The Hatikvah is based on an Italian song, La Mantovana. When we sing the Hatikvah together, we are doing much more than just singing a nice melody. We are making a promise that we will never forget the undying Jewish hope for independence and that we will do all within our power to help the State of Israel prosper. Click here to see Barbra Streisand sing the Hatikvah

Hatikvah translated to English
As long as the Jewish spirit is yearning deep in heart, With eyes turned toward the East, looking toward Zion, Then our hope - the two-thousand-year-old hope - will not be lost: To be a free people in our land, The land of Zion and Jerusalem.

Summary In conclusion I really think I learned a lot of facts about Israel that I didn’t know before, I learned much about the history of Israel, and how the Politicians of the newly declared state chose the great state icons. Doing the work was really hard and tedious but all in all I think it was pretty fun and very informative.
