7 Historical efforts Energy efficiency:
Electricity use per square foot has been reduced by 39% over the past 10-year timeframe, reflecting a $5.5 million in annual avoided costs based on 2015 electrical rates. Natural gas use per square foot has been reduced by over 54% over the past 10-year timeframe through energy and domestic hot water efficiency projects and initiatives, reflecting a $1.4 million in annual avoided cost based on 2015 natural gas rates. Energy efficiency: Electricity use per square foot has been reduced by 39% over the past 10-year timeframe, reflecting a $5.5 million in annual avoided costs based on 2015 electrical rates. This savings can be attributed primarily to implementation of the Strategic Energy Partnership, increased efficiency standards in new construction, and increasing the campus community’s awareness regarding energy conservation. Total natural gas use decreased by 16% in 2014/2015 as compared to the prior year. Natural gas use per square foot has been reduced by over 54% over the past 10-year timeframe through energy and domestic hot water efficiency projects and initiatives, reflecting a $1.4 million in annual avoided cost based on 2015 natural gas rates.

8 Renewable Energy ~5 megawatt photovoltaic Power Purchase Agreement at six sites behind the main campus SCE meter, including what would be the largest carport array in California (Lot 38). The project will save the campus an estimated $270K during its first year of operation and reduce Scope I greenhouse gas emissions by 10%.

17 Demand Side Management Mitigation Approach
Statewide Energy Partnership (SEP) Project Types: LED and Smart Lighting Controls Mechanical System Upgrades Monitoring-Based Commissioning (Building Tune-Ups) UCSB participates in the Strategic Energy Partnership (SEP) with Southern California Edison and Southern California Gas, which helps us plan for and implement multi-pronged campus solutions to energy, involving on- and off-site generation, conservation, and a degree of reliance on fossil sources. MBCx - combines building data from a wide variety of sources to better manage building performance and efficiency. MBCx involves the implementation of improvement measures along with ongoing service.
