3. Opisometer
An opisometer is used to measure the length of a small curvy line.
It is often used to measure the length of roads or rivers on a map

4. Trundle wheel A trundle wheel is a larger version of the opisometer
It is used to measure the length of longer distances - like the length of a road.

5. Vernier Callipers
A vernier callipers is used to measure the diameter of circular objects
– like the diameter of a marble

7. Area Area is the amount of surface that something covers.
The standard international unit for measuring area is m2 or cm2

8. Measuring the area of a rectangle
Each box is takes up an area of 1m2.

9. You can multiply the length by the breadth!
The length is 10 metres
Breadth is 5 metres
Can you think of a way to get the same answer for the area without counting the boxes?
You can multiply the length by the breadth!
10 m x 5 m = 50 m2

10. Finding the area of a rectangle
The area of a rectangle = Length x Width
