Transforming Maternity Services Mini-Collaborative
1000 Lives Plus is a five year programme to improve patient safety and reduce avoidable harm, waste and variation across NHS Wales. It supports organisations in achieving this locally. The Transforming Maternity Services Mini-Collaborative was launched in March 2011 at the RCM/HOMAG Conference in Cardiff: ‘Midwifery 20:20 The Challenges of Delivering Expectations’ From left to right, Karen Jewell, Chair RCM Wales, Cathy Warwick, General Secretary RCM, Prof Jean White Chief Nursing Officer WAG, Jan Davies, Director 1000 Lives Plus, Helen Rogers, Director for Wales RCM. What are we trying to achieve? Reduce mortality and harm by improving the recognition and response to the acutely deteriorating woman. OVERALL AIM: To improve experience and outcomes for mothers, babies and their families within Maternity Services Reduce mortality and harm from venous thromboembolism in pregnancy and the postnatal period. All Health Boards within Wales have signed up to this programme of work and are implementing a series of interventions 1
