7 Global Skills Award Programme
The GSA programme is designed to enhance global awareness and employability From October 2018 until May 2019 All Master’s degree students are invited to enrol onto the programme, alongside their Master’s Those enrolled complete an on-line personal development assessment. Students attend a lecture series on national and global issues and a selection of workshops All those who complete invited to a reward ceremony and receive a GSA Programme Certificate. Footer text

8 How do I obtain the award?
Enrolment onto the GSA is available from 19th September 2018. Attend the Introduction Evening Complete the initial personal development assessment via the online booking system: Attend a minimum of 3 lectures from the lecture series Participate in a minimum of 3 workshops from the workshop programme Complete a final GSA evaluation via the online system at the end of the programme Level of Award Lectures Workshops Gold 8 Silver 6 Bronze 3 Footer text

14 The annual Postgraduate Festival encompasses a variety of events, workshops and fun activities during a week in June. 21 Student Voice There are a range of mechanisms you can use to provide feedback on the quality of your academic and social experiences as a postgraduate student at Kent. These mechanisms include: Staff Student Liaison Committees (SSLCs) Speaking to Kent Union. They are your students’ union and exist to make sure your voice is heard. Talking to your Student Reps – student reps act as the link between the student body, Kent Union and the University. Speaking to your Supervisor or Academic Advisers. 24 Centre for English and World Languages (CEWL)
World Language Modules CEWL also provides a range of credit–bearing modules in Arabic, Japanese, Mandarin and Russian. You can take these as ‘wild’ modules. Language Express at the University of Kent Learn a new language or brush up on your language skills at the University of Kent. 26 Working During Your Studies
There are various opportunities to undertake paid and unpaid work during your studies. Benefits include: Earning extra income Networking and making new contacts Gaining experience and learning new skills Tier 4 Visa Students All Tier 4 postgraduate students may work up to 20 hours per week until the end of their course. In addition: Taught Master’s degree students may work full-time over Christmas and Easter vacations

Gain both ‘real life’ skills and work experience through the EP Scheme to stand out to prospective employers. Activities can include: volunteering, attending workshops, joining societies, working part-time, etc. Rewards range from internships, project placements, work experience, training sessions, assessment centres and vouchers! The new Buddy Scheme Plus has been launched and we are looking for postgraduate role models to represent the University and help convert prospective students.
