What is a spectrum? A spectrum can be defined differently depending on which subject it is used in In Social Studies, the Political Spectrum refers to a line on which different approaches to government fall

If a Political Party believes that government should do very little and let people take care of themselves, they are said to be on the Conservative, or right end of the spectrum. If a Political Party believes that government should have a bigger impact in people’s lives by providing services like schools and healthcare, then they are said to be on the Liberal, or left end of the spectrum. Going too far on either side of the spectrum can be dangerous!

Manitoba currently has 6 registered Political Parties. They are: Communist Party of Canada – Manitoba Manitoba Liberal Party New Democratic Party of Manitoba (NDP) The Green Party of Manitoba Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba (PC) Manitoba Party
