Warm Up. Graph the solution set to each inequality:
2
Inequalities Objective: By the end of today’s lesson, you will be able find and display all of the solutions to any complex inequality
3
We can solve inequalities just like equations, with one exception.
6
What happened?
7
Take any true inequality
Here is what happens? Take any true inequality Add the same thing to each side… and the inequality remains true!
8
Take any true inequality
Subtract the same thing from each side… and the inequality remains true!
9
Take any true inequality
Multiply each side by a positive number… and the inequality remains true!
10
Take any true inequality
Divide each side by a positive number… and the inequality remains true!
11
But, take any true inequality
And divide each side by a negative number… and the inequality gets reversed
12
Or take any true inequality
And multiply each side by a negative number… and the inequality also gets reversed!
13
If, in the process of solving an inequality, you have to multiply or divide both sides of the inequality by a NEGATIVE number, you must simultaneously reverse the inequality sign.
14
Graph and check the inequality
16
Graph and check the inequality

Homework Solve and Graph each of the following inequalities:
