24.01.2008 Angelika Pochanke-Alff5 - Increase of life style based chronic diseases - No preventive medical check-ups for local GTZ staff - Different standards of prevention in GTZ Kenya + HQ - HIV/AIDS workplace programme is in place - Management + implementing structure of the work-place programme can be used to implement WHP - KAPB survey results (June 2007) show: - Need to train Focal Persons + improve their efficiency - Enormous interest of employees in WHP Background Information

24.01.2008 Angelika Pochanke-Alff7 Provide medical check-ups for employees + spouses by contracting Mater Hospital - Well man & Well women package 8600/= KES per person (contribution of employees has to be discussed) - Screening: Hypertension, Cardiac problems, Diabetes Problems related to high cholesterol, dental check-up, HIV/AIDS test - Women: Breast cancer, Cancer of the cervix, Fibroids RECOMMENDATIONS

24.01.2008 Angelika Pochanke-Alff8 Empower Focal Persons in order to improve efficiency of the HIV/AIDS WPP and the future WHP programme - install 1 - 2 Focal Person per project/programme - review TORs of FP (job description + appraisal) - appoint interested/suitable FPs + train them Expected: Approx. 10 – 15 FPs trained + empowered to plan and implement activities; M&E System RECOMMENDATIONS

24.01.2008 Angelika Pochanke-Alff9 Complement the recent AIDS workplace programme with WHP components Promotion of physical activity - Fitness Club membership subsidy (10.000 KES) Promotion of relaxation/yoga techniques - Yoga Class subsidy (10.000 KES) Promotion of stress management - 2 hour workshop at the workplace Promotion of health talks / health education Promotion of sport competition, marathons, healthy food comp. RECOMMENDATIONS

24.01.2008 Angelika Pochanke-Alff10 Improve working environment (health & safety in the office) Check working environment in order to identify factors creating illness + stress Analyse aspects like.. ergonomics of sitting; good + bad lighting, computer + monitor, room + space, noise … work organisation.. Activity: Survey (e.g. managed by WHP Coordinator.) RECOMMENDATIONS
