2 Overview Choosing the Issue Considering Possible Partnerships Establishing the Partnership Cultivating the Partnership

3 Choosing the Issue Year of Discernment - Ecojustice
Discerning an advocacy issue - Portland Clean Energy Fund Choosing this initiative over other potential things b/c connections to lots of themes of CST, led by marginalized communities, local initiative, connecting with people of faith, and opportunity to say “Yes” to something

4 Considering Possible Partnerships
Considering organizations involved with Portland Clean Energy Fund Desiring to partner with an organization with people of faith Looking into who was involved with the initiative - local climate organizations (350PDX), non-profits working with communities of color, and an interfaith group called EcoFaith Recovery - desiring to root our advocacy with people of faith, we desired to partner with EcoFaith Recovery. Had conversations, attended meetings and events

5 Establishing the Partnership
Inviting potential leaders EcoFaith Recovery retreat Learning more about EcoFaith and their vision, mission, values Building relationship between St. Ignatius and EcoFaith Recovery My conversations with the leadership team Inviting parishioners to become involved - extended community invitations, but also targeted invitations to people who I think would be good leaders Attending the retreat EcoFaith is a “leadership development and support group” that encourages us and empowers dispersed leadership and so b/c of my capacity and interest and St. Ignatius having a larger team involved, we have stepped up as leaders which has grown our connection and relationship and also supported the impact of EcoFaith within PCEF

6 Cultivate the Partnership
Monthly EcoFaith Recovery meeting and online communications Continued collaboration on the Portland Clean Energy Fund campaign Continuing to attend monthly EcoFaith meetings and online communications through Basecamp Both cultivating more advocacy within St. Ignatius and partnering with other congregations through EcoFaith - we’ve become the hub for faith signatures in Portland and we’ve recruited 8 more parishioners to help with signature collection thus far, and connecting with the Archdiocese, other communities of faith (ecumenical connections), Catholic Sentinel, others through this advocacy opportunity
