Week of Nov. 7, 2016 Issue # 4 2nd 9 Weeks Mrs. Castellano's Class Library Weekly Objectives Read library book everyday. Language Arts – Fiction & Non fiction, characters, setting, plot, Problem and solution, Parts of a book-glossary, table of contents, past tense endings, declarative and interrogative sentences, prepositions, plural nouns, author’s purpose. Math – Money. Science – Changes in object positions. Social Studies – Where we live and maps. Homework Monday–Write each spelling words 3 times. No math. Fluency folder List 12. Read library book. Finish map. Tuesday–1. Write the spelling words in alphabetical order (ABC).2. Write a sentence for the first 7 spelling words.3. Math sheet.4. Fluency folder- list 12 and the Grasshopper and the ants.5.Read Library book and sign folder. Wednesday–1. Write a sentence for spelling words (8 to 15).2. Write a sentence for all vocabulary words.3. Math sheet .4.Fluency folder 5. Read Library Book and sign folder. Finish maps of your room and neighborhood. Thursday–1. Have your parents give you a practice spelling test. Practice using your vocabulary words with your family members and look for more pictures online.2. Math sheet 3. Fluency folder. Friday-Read for (20) twenty minutes each day using your library book everyday. Sign your AR folder. Read on the weekends. TESTING ALL DAY. No absences, please. Thank you for taking your children to the doctor after 10:00am. Spelling, vocabulary, and comprehension tests. Parents, please sign the tests I send home on Fridays and return to me. If you did not get them, send me a note. Spelling Words Pattern: Long u: ue, u_e, ew fuel, cube, few, chew, use, mule, cue, cute, huge, tube, new, stew, threw, pollute, mew Vocabulary Words Story: African American Inventors 1. Allowed: To give permission. Let. 2.Powerful: Very strong. Full of power. 3.Invented: Made something new. 4.Instrument: A tool that helps do a job. 5.Products: Things you buy in a store. 6.Design: A plan to make something new. Important Dates: Friday, November 11- No classes. Veteran’s Day Holiday. November 21-25: Thanksgiving Break. No classes. Classes resume Nov. 28, 2016. We will be voting for class president, vice-president, and secretary on Tuesday as part of their real world learning involving current elections. Social Studies MAP Project Map Project: Students will make 2 maps of their room and their neighborhood for 2 grades. I am sending a paper for this. Due Tuesday, Nov. 15, No late projects will be accepted. I will grade based on: quality, color, detail, neatness and knowledge. Los estudiantes disenaran 2 mapas de su recamara y su vecindad.
