Welcome to the New Mexico State Personnel Office (SPO) Day 4
Your first week: Days 1-5

Day 4 Welcome to SPO! There are a number of things that will happen this week as you become a part of our team. Everyone at SPO wants to help make sure that your first days are smooth and seamless as possible as you begin your new job at SPO.

What you have already accomplished
You had your orientation, you signed your forms, walked around and were introduced to everyone at SPO, you learned how to work your phone, our policies and procedures, how to write a req. and leave slip, Know the lunch and break schedules, FEMA trained, registered for defensive driving and able to navigate the SPO website. You are doing great! Let’s start with some of the things you should do today (don’t forget you can pause this presentation at any time while viewing):

Purpose The purpose of this introductory training is to help you become a valuable member of the SPO team. So let’s get started…

The SPO Organizational Chart
It is important to understand how the SPO is organized. The following chart should help you see how SPO “fits together”.

Getting Access to your Timesheet
SHARE is the online site for your timesheet. Your manager/supervisor will send you an with this website address: Once you are on the website, click on “Human Capital Management”.

Password and Timesheet
You will have your initial password in the from your manager/supervisor. You should change your password once you have logged into your timesheet. You can now look at your timesheet. You will only have to enter information when you are absent from your job; the timesheet is automatically calculated for you each week. Be sure you have approved leave slips for all annual and sick leave. If you are unexpectedly out, submit a leave slip as soon as you return to work.

Getting Your Insurance
Go to the New Mexico Benefits website: On the toolbar click “Enrollment”. On the left hand side you will see “State Agency Employee”. Click it. Click the first “Click Here”. It looks like this:

Filling out the Forms and the Fax
These forms take about 30 minutes (at most) to complete. Make sure you have the Social Security numbers for your Spouse/Partner and dependents. You will have to fax marriage and birth certificates. Our fax machine is at the front desk. You have to dial 9 and then the entire number ( ). Fax the documents on the day you submit your insurance forms online.

There is so much more… …but it is your fourth day and getting your feet on solid ground will be the best thing you can do today. Just remember that everyone on the SPO team is dedicated to helping you become an invaluable part of our agency. So ask questions if you have any. Welcome to the team!
