CLICK TO GO BACK TO KIOSK MENU Anticipated Versus Actual Use of EMRA Match Filters #CORDAA18 BACKGROUND METHODS EMRA Match is a collaborative, crowd-sourced, searchable, filterable residency directory endorsed by EMRA, CORD, CDEM, ACEP The filters in EMRA Match were selected by surveying students about which program attributes they considered most important The student survey used to develop EMRA Match evaluated the importance of 16 attributes (geographic location, length of training, and accreditation type were omitted) The current version of EMRA Match for Residency contains 23 filter options The overall number of searches and use of each filter was tracked for all visitors to EMRAMatch.org There were ten program attributes for which both survey perceived importance, prior to the launch of EMRA Match, and actual usage patterns were available OBJECTIVE To compare actual use of EMRA Match filters with anticipated use based upon the prior student preferences survey

3 Anticipated Versus Actual Use of EMRA Match Filters
#CORDAA18 RESULTS The Top 5 Filters Between June - November 2017, 200k searches were made (and/or filters applied) 40k searches were made by 1310 users logged into EMRA.org accounts; 21% of those logged in applied filters Between 1/3 and 40% used the ACGME/AOA, Name/Location, and Program Length filters Students used the Step 1 Cutoff, Percent Osteopath, and Training Environment filters more than anticipated, and the Shift Length and Shifts Per Month filters less than anticipated Percentage of Searches Filter Applied

4 Anticipated Versus Actual Use of EMRA Match Filters
#CORDAA18 Based on 2015 Student Survey Re: Importance of Program Attributes

5 Anticipated Versus Actual Use of EMRA Match Filters
#CORDAA18 CONCLUSIONS LIMITATIONS The actual usage of filters on EMRA Match differs from what would have been anticipated based on prior survey data Further efforts may be required to educate students that using filters can help them develop a targeted application strategy These results may also warrant updating the EMRA Match user interface to make it easier to apply the most popular filters Web analytics data currently tracks each application of an additional filter as a new search, so filter application behavior was limited to analysis of the composite of filters applied by the 40k “searches” performed by those logged into EMRA.org accounts which may not be entirely reflective of the filtering behaviors of the other 80% of searches performed in the non-logged in state
