2 Restroom & Water Breaks
Restroom and Water breaks: 3 passes per nine weeks Unused passes worth 5 bonus points each added to lowest test grade at end of nine weeks No replacement for lost, stolen, or donated passes Not transferrable (1st to 2nd 9 weeks, etc.) Cannot leave first 15 minutes of class or last 10 minutes You MUST have a hallway pass – no exceptions!

3 Backpacks Backpack procedure:
Take out materials needed for class that day Place backpack at front of the room against the wall OR on the backpack shelf in back of room No backpacks are allowed in the desk areas due to safety concerns

4 Cell Phone Policy Cell phones are to be kept face-down in the upper-right hand corner of your desk UNLESS you’ve been given permission to use them. Cell phones MUST be placed in silent mode OR powered OFF and remain in the face-down position until you have permission to use them. The “Device in Use” color is GREEN. The “Device OFF” color is RED. No charging in class!

5 Cell Phone Policy Violation
1st offense: Warning 2nd offense: Cell phone jail until end of class 3rd offense: Cell phone jail; parent notified 4th offense: Cell phone jail; office referral Refusal to put phone in jail when asked= automatic referral and parent notified

6 Snacks You may eat LIGHT SNACKS ONLY in class as long as you put your trash away and clean off your hands and desk before leaving. Light snacks include the following: chips, cookies, candy, and fruit. Food or snacks that are smelly are not allowed!

7 Last 5 minutes of Class Gather up your belongings and put them into your backpacks prior to dismissal bell. Remain seated UNTIL THE BELL RINGS – NO LINING UP AT THE DOOR The bell dismisses class.

8 Leaving Class You will not be allowed to leave class for the first 15 minutes, unless at the request of an administrator or counselor. Extra-curricular activities: sponsor MUST notify instructor BY that you are to be released early – NO EXCEPTIONS! For early release by a parent, the parent MUST check you out thru the office; the office MUST notify instructor before you will be released from class.

9 Supplies You will need the following supplies for this class:
Pen (blue or black ink) or pencil Spiral notebook for notes and practice (3 or 5 subject with dividers preferred) College-ruled loose notebook paper Composition book (optional) BRING THESE MATERIALS EVERYDAY!

10 Tardies You will be counted tardy if you’re not walking through the door when the bell rings. At your third (3rd) tardy, you will be assigned a teacher detention – D-Hall; parent notified 4th tardy +: office referral and parent notified Six (6) or more tardies: you will not be eligible for exemption on the final exam, regardless of attendance and grade

11 Absences It’s your responsibility to check the make-up work folders and get assignment(s). You will have two full (2) days following your return to school to complete and submit make-up work. (Ex. You’re absent on a Tuesday and return the next day on Wednesday. Your make-up work is due the following Monday. ) Place make-up work in folders located on the blue top shelf. Look for your class period.

12 Behavior Expectation Please do what you are asked to do the first time without arguing or complaining. Respect your teacher and classmates by your language, attitude, and/or behavior. Do not write or draw in class provided textbooks nor touch anything on the walls, shelves, or whiteboards without permission Comply with all rules and procedures. No walking or talking during the instructor’s lecture or when a classmate is speaking during a class discussion.

13 Automatic Referrals Cheating: Grade of 0 on the assignment Skipping
Fighting/confrontational behavior Profanity/racial slurs Refusing to surrender electronic device Vandalism/defacing school property Refusal to attend teacher D-hall Uncorrectable or consistent dress code violation Bullying

14 Group Work/Projects You will be asked to work in groups of three (3) to complete group assignments or projects. Each member of the group MUST be assigned a task. (ex. If a group of three is assigned a reading assignment, each person must read a portion of the text; if a writing assignment, one person would read, another write, and another edit. If a group member is absent, the other members are expected to continue working on the project and that person is to be given a different task upon returning to contribute to the project. If you know you’re going to be absent the next day, make sure your group members have your work!

15 Tutoring Tutoring is offered by appointment only Monday through Friday. If you schedule tutoring with your instructor, you are expected to show up or notify your instructor in a reasonable amount of time if you have to cancel. Tutoring sessions are 30 minutes. Morning tutoring time: 7:45 - 8:15 Afternoon tutoring time: 4:00 - 4:30 pm
