Introduction to PowerTeacher Gradebook

How to Access your Gradebook (FROM SCHOOL)
Log in using teacher log in (It won’t work under student!!) Go to Favorites and choose “PWCS Gradebook” Scroll down to fine blue “Launch Gradebook” button (You MAY have to check the box….try it without first!)

Choose School Name from drop-down
Use your username/password from SMS

Exploring Gradebook (QUICKLY!)
Tabs across the top Classes along the side Marking period Terms drop-down box Categories (4 are default – more can be added!)

Setting Up Grading Grades 3-5 store grades with 2 decimal places
Go to Tools— preferences – Grading Make your box look like this one!

Too add special scores (NHI) Go to Tools— preferences – Score Codes Click Add button at bottom Make your box look like this one!

Setting Up Categories Grades 3-5: LETTER grades only On 4 point scale
Go to – TOOLS – Categories Click category in left column Make points possible = 4 Score type is set to Letter Grade Include in Final Grade is CHECKED The Publish Scores box should be CHECKED.

Category Weighting Assignments vs. Weights We will be weighting assignments based on the category. Tests = 3 Quizzes/Projects = 2 HW = 1 This will be entered each time you enter an assignment!

Assignments Daily/Weekly LETTER grades are only kept in CORE classes
Final grades (Ss and Ns) are giving for ALL categories and are required for interims & report cards. We’ll go over interims in a few weeks!! You can see the current up-to-date average right next to the student name.

Creating an Assignment
Click subject on left column Click + button to create new assignment Fill in the boxes -Name -Abbreviation (will be seen in parent portal) -Category (choose from drop-down) -Score Type (letter) -Points possible (ALWAYS 4) -Date due (can be in the future!!) -Include in final grade?? CLICK SAVE NOW ENTER GRADES!

Short Cuts Fill Assignment: When most students have the same score use this! -Right click on an assignment in the title area and choose FILL SCORES from pop-up menu
