1 AP and college credit What is the difference?

2 AP (Advanced placement)
No prerequisites to enroll in courses or take exam. Students sign up in February to take an AP exam in May. Score To receive college credit, most universities require a 3 or higher. Cost is approximately $100 per exam (unless you qualify for free/reduced lunch). Courses are weighted.

3 College credit or dual credit
Prerequisite GPA of 2.5 to be eligible for college credit and must obtain a C or higher in the course. Grade will likely appear on college transcript. May or may not factor into college GPA. Both will depend on the university the student chooses to attend. Students receive high school and college credit upon completion of the course. Sign up in August through one of our partnering universities and pay approximately $65/PER CREDIT HOUR. Courses are weighted.

4 Example – MOBAP credit at MU
Dual Credit We accept the majority of courses taken for dual credit at regionally accredited colleges or universities. The credit must be documented on a transcript and sent to Mizzou. There are no limits on the number of dual credits you can earn. We recommend you check with your academic department to see whether the credits will count toward your major. Credits are more likely to be accepted if they apply to your general education requirements rather than to courses within your major. See our transfer course equivalency list to learn more about which dual credits Mizzou accepts.
