Public Information Meeting Wednesday Sept. 30, 2015 Good evening everyone. I would like first of all to thank you for taking the time to come tonight to hear about the proposed improvements at Iroquois Park

2 Park Location: 4203 Longmoor Dr.
Iroquois Park is one of our many neighbourhood parks. It is located at 4203 Longmoor Drive.

Assistant Tonight we will be discussing: - what the meeting goals are - the purpose of the meeting which is to present the proposed improvements for Iroquois Park We will discuss the next steps after the meeting And finally there will be an opportunity for you to ask questions

Information about the proposed Iroquois Park improvements Obtain public feedback on the proposed improvement plan We will keep you informed, listen and acknowledge concerns & aspirations and provide feedback on how public input influenced the decision. Meeting Goals Our goal for tonight is to inform and consult with you. We will keep you informed, listen and acknowledge concerns and provide feedback on how public input influenced the decision. We will provide information about the proposed Iroquois Park improvements We are asking you to share your comments. Please be sure you have signed in so we can follow up with you if you like. There is also a comment sheet with one question to answer that will help us finalize the plan.

5 Iroquois Park – Existing Conditions Plan
This slide shows the existing conditions at Iroquois Park. What has prompted this work is the play equipment is ready to be replaced Installed years old. Swings 2007 being relocated. The baseball diamond outfield conflicts with the soccer field. The baseball diamond is rarely scheduled for use by our sports unit. We have also received had feedback indicating that there are parking capacity issues at this park. Our hope is that removing the ball diamond may help alleviate the parking issues. 6 Iroquois Park – Proposed Improvement Plan
This slide shows the Proposed Improvements The baseball diamond is being removed to allow for a better location for the playground, it will improve the accessibility It also allows for potential parking lot expansion in the future if required We have been working with our sport unit and the sport user groups on these proposed improvements. The playground will have new playground equipment with a new wood fibre playground surface The existing granular path will be paved with asphalt New site furnishings such as benches New soccer field backstop fencing New soccer goal posts Notes: We only have the numbers from structured play. We have no way to track unstructured play. BOMBA use 2015 increased because of other ball diamond closures for improvements. Mon., Tues., Wed., & Thurs. 2014 – only 61 hours of use Iroquois Park – Proposed Improvement Plan

7 Impacts to the Park Park Use - Minimal impact
Baseball Diamond – Expected impact Soccer Schedule – Expected Impact I would like to highlight the expected impacts for the park Park Use - Minimal impact The park will remain open during the construction. The playground will be closed for a period of time. Baseball Diamond – Expected impact The sport unit has consulted with the baseball organizations and they are aware of the baseball diamond removal. Soccer Schedule – Expected Impact The construction schedule will be coordinated with the soccer schedule to minimize the disruption. If you have any concerns during construction please feel free to contact me. I have placed business cards on the sign in table so please help yourself. 8 Next Steps Review feedback Construction pending budget approval
Proposed summer 2016 – Construction Fall 2016 – Ready for Play! After the meeting the next steps are: We will allow a couple of weeks to receive all the feedback. The feedback will be reviewed and discussed with the project team to determine if any minor changes are required to the improvement plan. The construction is pending budget approval. Budget - $300,000 Construction is expected to start next summer and be complete in the fall.
