Steps for Equivalent ratios
Express the given ratio in fractional form Then multiply that fraction’s numerator and denominator with the same number. Then write the answers in ratio form.
3
Example1: Write any 3 equivalent ratios for 4 : 7
Solution: Ratio 4 : 7 in fractional form is Multiply that fraction’s numerator and denominator with the same number like 2,3 and 4 X 2 Equivalent fraction of 4 and 7 are multiplied by common number 2 X 2 X 3 4 and 7 are multiplied by common number 3 Equivalent fraction of X 3 X 4 Equivalent fraction of 4 and 7 are multiplied by common number 4 X 4 Therefore, Equivalent ratios are 8 : 14 , 12 : 21 , 16 : 28

Example2: Write any 3 equivalent ratios for 9 : 13
Solution: Ratio 9 : 13 in fractional form is Multiply that fraction’s numerator and denominator with the same number like 2,3 and 4 X 2 9 and 13 are multiplied by common number 2 Equivalent fraction of X 2 X 3 Equivalent fraction of 9 and 13 are multiplied by common number 3 X 3 X 4 9 and 13 are multiplied by common number 4 Equivalent fraction of X 4 Therefore, Equivalent ratios are 18 : 26 , 27 : 39 , 36 : 52

16 Ans 16 Example3: Find the missing number in 4 : 9 = □ : 36
Solution: 4 : 9 = □ : 36 in fractional form is We know we can get equivalent fraction by multiplying numerator and denominator with the same number. X 4 16 Numerator 4 is also multiplied by 4 Denominators 9 is multiplied by 4 to get 36 X 4 Ans 16
6
72 Ans 72 Example4: Find the missing number in 5 : 8 = 45: □ Solution:
5 : 8 = 45: □ in fractional form is We know we can get equivalent fraction by multiplying numerator and denominator with the same number. X 9 Numerator 5 is multiplied by 9 to get 45 72 Denominators 8 is also multiplied by 9 X 9 Ans 72
