8 ASSESSMENT Courses at National 1 to National 4:
courses are made up of Units all units have assessments which must be passed to gain a pass for that Unit. courses are internally assessed with no final examination/external assessment (but assessments are externally verified) courses at National 4 Level include an Added Value Unit Courses at National 5 and above include an external assessment

9 ASSESSMENT At Advanced Higher levels, even where there is an external assessment, a Course Award can only be achieved where all of the Unit Assessments and, where there is one, any External Assessment, have been passed.
