6 years of training, 2 years general surgery, 4 years orthopaedic surgery
Interim examinations

Formal assessment with trainer
C-paper, pay € 650 to Medical Specialist Registration Council (MSRC)
5 year certification with BIG registration

Recertification every 5 years
3 months prior to expiration, check form and a € 325 bill is sent
First pay the bill, then fill out the form !!!
Three criteria have to be met with

Orthopaedic patient related activity of at least 16 hours weekly on average during past 5 years

Visitation is peer to peer examination of all orthopaedic practices and clinics.
This criteria has to be met on input, not on output, questions on specific education
Quality Visitation is a unique system, possibly not in use in any other European country

Missing 25% max then recertification 2.5 y
Missing 50% max then recertification 1 y
Missing > 50%, no recertification, but re education 1-2 years

Health authority yearly checks hospital based, not individual, attention to one of the IFMS programs
If not 100%, the hospital has to give the explanation
